Introducing Prenatal: A New Chapter in Maternal Wellness

Through our experience supporting women throughout their motherhood journey, The Tenth has been dedicated to supporting women through one of the most transformative periods of their lives: the postpartum journey.

Throughout that time, we have worked with many women navigating recovery after birth. We've supported physical healing, feeding challenges, emotional wellbeing, confidence, identity shifts and the transition into motherhood. We have seen first-hand the difference that expert, personalised care can make during this chapter of life.

We have also observed something else.

Many of the challenges women face after birth do not begin after birth, they begin during pregnancy.

This insight has shaped the evolution of The Tenth and led to the launch of two Prenatal programmes based on pregnancy stage, designed to support women throughout pregnancy while laying the foundations for a stronger postpartum recovery.

Why Prenatal?

Pregnancy care today is often centred around a series of important milestones: appointments, scans, tests, birth plans and antenatal education. While these elements play a vital role, much of the support available remains focused on preparing women for labour itself.

Yet birth is only one part of the maternal journey.

The weeks and months that follow bring significant physical, emotional and practical changes. Recovery from birth, establishing feeding, adapting to a new identity, navigating relationships and managing the realities of early parenthood all require preparation, support and care.

At The Tenth, we believe postpartum recovery begins in pregnancy.

Evidence increasingly demonstrates that preparation during pregnancy can positively influence postpartum outcomes, from pelvic health and physical recovery to breastfeeding success, maternal confidence and emotional wellbeing. The decisions made during pregnancy, the support systems established and the preparation undertaken can have a meaningful impact long after birth.

Our Prenatal programmes have been created to help women approach this transition with greater confidence, knowledge and support.

A More Connected Approach To Maternal Care

One of the challenges many women experience is fragmentation.

Pregnancy care, birth care and postpartum care are often delivered by different professionals, in different settings, with limited continuity between them. Women frequently find themselves repeating their stories, rebuilding relationships and navigating new systems at every stage.

At the same time, many women are actively seeking ways to support their wellbeing during pregnancy, not only for the birth itself but for the recovery and transition into motherhood that follows.

While information has never been more accessible, much of it is scattered across social media, online forums and conflicting sources of advice. Women are often left trying to determine for themselves which approaches are evidence-based, what support is worth investing in, and which interventions may help them feel stronger, more prepared and better supported during the postpartum period.

The Tenth was built on the belief that maternal care should feel more connected, both in the care women receive and the knowledge they have access to.

Our Prenatal offering represents the beginning of that journey. It brings together expert-led support, education and preparation within a single, coordinated programme designed to help women understand not only what lies ahead, but what they can actively do during pregnancy to support their wellbeing, birth experience and recovery afterwards.

Women who engage with The Tenth during pregnancy benefit from continuity of care that extends beyond birth. Their history, preferences, goals and concerns are understood by a team that continues to support them into the postpartum period, creating a more seamless and personalised experience.

Rather than viewing pregnancy and postpartum as separate chapters, we see them as part of a continuous maternal wellness pathway; one that empowers women with the knowledge, support and preparation they need at every stage of the journey.

We see pregnancy as part of a continuous maternal wellness pathway; one that empowers women with the knowledge, support and preparation they need at every stage of the journey.

Introducing The Foundation

The Foundation has been designed for women in the second trimester and focuses on preparing the body and mind for the months ahead.

The programme combines expert-led support across movement, bodywork, pelvic health, nutrition and birth preparation, helping women build strong foundations for both birth and recovery.

Partner involvement forms an important part of the experience, recognising that motherhood and recovery do not happen in isolation. Research continues to show that informed and engaged partners contribute positively to maternal wellbeing and recovery outcomes.

The Foundation concludes with a midwife-led birth advocacy session, helping women feel informed, empowered and confident as they approach the next stage of pregnancy.

Introducing The Preparation

Designed for women in the third trimester, The Preparation focuses on readiness for both birth and the fourth trimester.

As women approach the final weeks of pregnancy, the programme provides targeted support across areas including perineal preparation, pelvic health, nervous system regulation, lactation preparation and emotional readiness for motherhood.

Alongside physical preparation, The Preparation addresses the psychological transition that accompanies becoming a mother. While much attention is given to preparing for birth, far less is dedicated to preparing for the identity shifts, relationship changes and emotional adjustments that often follow.

The programme has been designed to support women holistically, helping them feel equipped not only for labour, but for the realities of early motherhood.

Designed Around Women's Lives

Both programmes are available in two formats - women may choose to experience Prenatal through a two-night residential stay at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, where time and space are intentionally created for focused preparation and expert care.

Alternatively, the At-Home programme delivers the same clinical expertise and personalised support within the comfort and convenience of the client's own home.

Regardless of location, the objective remains the same: to provide women with access to expert, integrated care that supports their health, wellbeing and recovery.

Looking Ahead

The launch of Prenatal marks an important milestone for The Tenth, but it is also a natural extension of the work we have been doing for years.

Many of our clients have sought prenatal support long before these programmes formally existed. Through bespoke experiences, we have seen how valuable proactive preparation can be for women and their families. Prenatal allows us to bring that expertise into a dedicated offering that is accessible, structured and grounded in clinical best practice.

Most importantly, it allows us to support women across a broader continuum of maternal wellness.

Pregnancy is not simply preparation for birth, it is the beginning of motherhood.

And we believe women deserve expert care, personalised support and continuity throughout that journey.
